A minor girl from Palkot block of Gumla district rescued from Tughlaq Road was raped by her landlord, Surendra lal Mahipal, an engineer with Public Work Development in New Delhi. Medical reports have confirmed that the minor was physically abused on September 5. She is presently staying at the child protection home and is also being counseled by the experts there.
The victim had dialed 100 for assistance and was rescued by the police. “After giving the details to Tughlaq Road Police Station, she was sent for medical examination. The accused have been charged for rape under IPC section 370 and POSCO Act. The girl was serving as the domestic help in Delhi and was brought to Delhi by a placement agency,” said, Rishikant, Activist, Shakti Vahini.
“Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Gumla have been informed about the incident. The chairperson has assured all assistance and has also sent one member from Child line to bring back the girl from National Capital to Jharkhand. Notably, the committee is also tracking the address of her parents,” added Rishikant.
Expressing concern over the incident, Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Aarti Kujur, added, “I have received the information from Shakti Vahini Activist. The commission is gathering all the details about the incident. The commission will provide all aid and assistance to the minor. The information available with us suggests that the minor need immediate rehabilitation. The SCPCR team has contacted the CWC personnel on issue.”
