Through its concept, theme and the presentation style so far Panch Mandir Durga Puja Samiti has been successful in grabbing the attention of devotees since several years. This year too the puja committee members have decided to put up the replica of ‘Swami Narayan Mandir’, one of the most famous temples located in Gujarat.

Citing details about the puja pandal, an artist, Shahnanand Halda asserted, “Every year, we come up with a unique idea of design. This year too the concept of ‘Swami Narayan Mandir’ is an elaborate one. We are using plywood and thermocol to build the structure of pandal.

For past three months, we are busy in giving shape to the vision. The minuscule designs on plywood which are being put up are designed by the artist to enhance the look of the pandal.”

last year the sculpt of Goddess put up at Panch Mandir Durga puja Samiti pandal won an award for its presentation style defeating all other major pandals in the city. In order to maintain its record, this year again special attention is being given on sculpt of Goddess.

Pointing on the special features of idol of Goddess Durga, Halda said, “like pandal special attention is being given to sculpt too. In order to conserve the environment, we have been preparing eco-friendly sculpts every year. For the purpose we only use terracotta, sand and mud to prepare molds. To give ethnic touch to the theme, sculpts will be decorated in Bengali style. Approximately 55 artists from Haldia district of West Bengal are putting their best effort to complete the pandal before deadline.”

Apart from pandal, one of the major areas of concern for the committee members is the security aspects.

“In order to maintain proper law and order and systematically manage the crowd, we have arranged few volunteers. Women volunteers will be present on the spot to manage and provide assistance to girls and ladies. 10 CCTVs cameras will be installed inside the pandal.

Provision for proper lighting is being made. Moreover, in order to save electricity we are using lED lights for decorating purpose,” informed the member of puja committee, Pawan Kumar.

In order to attract more people, every year special arrangements are done by the puja committee members. This year too, entertainment rides and numerous food stalls will be the crowd-pullers at this particular pandal.
