Repaired flag to be put atop flag pole!

The Indian tricolour will once again fly on the flag pole atop Pahari Mandir as the Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti is likely to put flag back on its place in next couple of days. However amid the ray of hope of witnessing the tricolour once again embellishing sky over capital, the probability of a repaired flag making its way to top is high even as a fresh replacement is on its way to Ranchi.

The flag atop the pole on the highest point of Ranchi was removed amid reports that it was damaged due to reasons yet to be disclosed by the office bearers of the committee.

The committee is awaiting the removed flag to be brought back after repair and it did not rule out that it could be placed on its original position as it also confided that a new flag has been dispatched by the manufacturer from Mumbai. The committee has ordered four flags of which three will be sent later.

“We will see if can put repaired flag on the flag pole. In the meantime, one flag has been dispatched by the manufacturer yesterday (on Tuesday). It will take at least one week to reach Ranchi. We have ordered four flags,” said PRO of the committee Mukesh Agarwal.

Although the Flag Code of India-2010 speaks about  destroying a damaged flag in a manner consistent with the dignity of the flag and is silent about putting a repaired flag, the committee asserted that a repaired flag does not violate any rule related to displaying flag.

The committee also expressed that flowing flag after sunset is also consistent with some guidelines that they suggest have been made for a flag flying at a certain height.

“There is different set of guidelines for flag of certain height. So putting up a repaired flag is not a violation of code neither keeping it flown after sunset,” maintained Agarwal.

Meanwhile, eye witnesses confided that the committee attempted to put tricolour atop the flag pole on Tuesday but it sustained damages forcing the committee to abort the process.

The flag, India’s tallest and the largest flag, weighing 60 kg and having dimensions of 66 feet by 99 feet was unfurled atop Pahari Mandir at a height of 493 feet on birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
