Reliance subscribers baffled over poor network in State

Published on:

Reliance GSM mobile service subscribers in the State complained of very poor services as a large number of them could not get access to the mobile network for hours. On the other hand, different Mobile Service Providers (MSPs) were said to be trying to gain benefits out of the situation. The disturbance in Reliance network was on peak on December 10.

Thousands of Reliance mobile phone service users have complained of poor or no network over the past few days as they were unable to make or receive calls and send texts. The problems were faced more by those who were availing 2G services as the license for the spectrum was about to expire on December 12.

“The 2G license could not be renewed after December 12. But the Reliance 2G GSM services has been linked to Vodafone services through Inter Circle Roaming (ICR) so there will not be any difficulty to the subscribers in the state. Since, we already have 3G license, subscribers in all major cities of Jharkhand like Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Bokaro including other places will not face network problems any further,” said OP Sharma, a senior official of Reliance Communications in Ranchi.

“Moreover, whatever problems the customers are facing in the last couple of days is due to the transition. We have managed to sort out 70 per cent of the 2G consumers’ issues and rest 30 per cent will be sorted out positively by December 13,” added Sharma.

Meanwhile, many people using Reliance GSM services in the state capital were going for changing the MSP as frequent complaints about baffling Reliance network have been registered.

“I am using Reliance network for three years. I trusted the company as it was one of the oldest brands in communication business but now I am changing the network through mobile number portability (MNP) due to regular technical glitches which often create difficulty for me,” said Maya Verma, a local resident.

“The most annoying part is that no one at the Reliance mobile stores or Reliance city office is cooperating and giving the main reasons for the disturbance in the network. This is not for first time I am facing this problem, earlier too I complained about this,” said another subscriber Vishnu Purti.

On the other hand various other telecom companies’ sales representatives are luring people with various offers. “One of the leading telecom company sales representatives asked me to immediately change the Reliance network and port it to other network, as Reliance can stop its operation in the coming days,” said Priya Singh, a lawyer.
