Relatives of coronavirus victims, especially those who breathed their last on hospital beds have alleged negligence at Government Covid centres by the staff.
This came to fore here in Dhanbad when relatives of Vijay Rajak, a regional reporter of a vernacular daily of Dhanbad exposed the attitude of the staff on duty.
Rajak died at Cath lab based covid centre at SNMMCH on April 9.
His son Aman alleged that staff on duty didn’t attend his father despite repeated requests made by his mother and him for checking the falling pulse rate but he remained ignorant towards his requests for three continuous hours.
They removed the oxygen support that caused the death of his father.
There was no doctor to whom he could contact on the ill-fated night.
According to Aman the staff on night shift duty often went to sleep leaving aside the patients.
This amounts to criminal negligence on part of the staff on duty, claimed Àman.
A separate story of negligence at Sadar Hospital too has been exposed by one Partho Tiwari of Hirapur locality.
Tiwari had admitted his 74 year relative on May 3 and on May 4 when he came to hospital to check his whereabouts found missing from bed.
When inquires the staff he said, the old man had left for home in the morning. Unfortunately, his body was found in another room wrapped in a bedsheet after a long search.
Incidentally, in both cases, the management remains uncommitted and shoulder responsibility on duty officers. RK Singh nodal officer of Sadar Hospital said, thing’s can be checked from CCTV footage as there was no bed available on that day Parth is claiming off.
Aman and Parth both said that tall claims made by authorities have fallen flat as most deaths have been caused due to negligence in hospitals.
