Rejig planned to dethrone stuck officers

A major administrative reshuffle is in the offing in Jharkhand, with several officers of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) and Indian Police Services (IPS) clinging to their posts for more than three years.

According to sources, Advisor to the Governor Madhukar Gupta has asked for files of such IAS and IPS officers in different departments. The file had been put on hold due to the Presidential visit but will now be acted on in the next few days.

Five IAS officers of Secretary and Principal Secretary ranks have either completed or are on the verge of completing three years at the same post. Similarly, Deputy Commissioners of few districts have also completed three-year tenures at a single place.

Besides, the Governor has also asked authorities to assign posting to those who have been relieved from their offices but not posted anywhere yet and has called for refraining from disbursing salaries to non-contributors.

As many as 476 newly-recruited junior engineers of the water resources department and transferred officials from the departments of land revenue and road construction are awaiting posting for the past couple of days.

Sixteen IPS officers had been transferred or promoted a month ago. However, the personnel department has not issued any fresh notification with regard to postings of a few officers.
