Increasing number of familiar faces in Janta Darbar week-after-week is not only creating unnecessary crowd there, but has also left a couple of Ministers getting annoyed with those complainants. Though labour, Training and Skill Development Minister Raj Paliwar and Water Resources, Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister CP Choudhary were listening to each and every complaint patiently and directing concerned officials from there itself, Paliwar couldn’t hide his displeasure to some of the repeat complainants on Wednesday in Janta Darbar at the CM secretariat.
“Some complainants come here every other week. Many of them come here only to make unnecessary and undue pressure on Government officials, falsely believing that their mere presence here followed by a call from whosesoever Minister is sitting to listen to them would speed up the entire process related to their case. I want to tell them that giving officials little time to act on cases is a better way to get the problem solved,” said Paliwar.
His comments came after one Shahjehan Parween told him that she was coming to Janta Darbar for last one year and eight months on weekly basis with just a few gaps, which made her probably the most familiar faces at Janta Darbar. The Minister appeared little more annoyed after knowing the fact that the case she had come up with was also pending in a Court.
“There is also another side of increasing familiar faces. It also forces us to think seriously whether someone’s complaint is not being taken seriously even after suggestions or direction from a Minister who is representing Chief Minister in Janta Darbar. So, better give officials time to act and have faith in the system. Also, this platform is not right for cases pending in Court(s),” said Paliwar.
However, the Minister-duo listening to regular cases of land grabbing attempts or police administration not acting swiftly got touchy when Gopal Mundu from Pakur came there with willingness to open a school for the blind in his village. He said that he was also willing to donate his piece of land for this noble cause, because there was no such school around. Surprised, Choudhary assured Mundu of speaking to the DC and to evaluate the possibilities of such a school there, with all possible assistance from the government.
Harmu Housing Colony water quality issue which has been talk of the locality for some days and has also grabbed headlines was another case which surprised the Minister duo, because the complainant happened to be the State Vice President of the ruling BJP. Deepak Prakash requested ministers to provide supply water to the colony, as its absence made life of the local residents a hell. “Everyone uses deep boring water, every single drop of which across the locality is adulterated enough to be avoided even for cleaning clothes,” said Prakash. He was representing Harmu Housing Colony Residents’ Association while making his requests to ministers.
The Minister duo heard more than 90 cases which were related to land grabbing, forgery, domestic violence and others. The ministers politely declined to give any assurance on cases which were pending in courts or those which were a result of decisions of courts. The ministers asked those complainants to go through the court route itself.
