Regular V-C of NPU faces uphill task

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Nilamber Pitamber University, AN Ojha, who assumed charge on May 8, faces an uphill task of putting the five-year-old university on the track of academic growth. The university awfully lacks any research avenue and in these five years none of the V-Cs in the past ever thought of launching university’s own syllabi for various courses but quite lethargically continues to pursue the one of the Ranchi university.

NPU was carved out in 2009. Ojha said he would be taking up the research and syllabi issues in right earnest now. As this university does not own even an inch of land it could not develop its infrastructural facility. The regular V-C who has a term of 3 years here said he would first focus on the issue of land and then go for the infrastructural facilities in the colleges under this university.

Irregular sessions are the other problem faced by the university. Ojha said all efforts are on to streamline the examinations and expressed hope that all examinations due in 2014 would be held on time. Ojha conceded the task is no easy but quite achievable. The new VC also stressed on improving timely attendance of teachers and staff and directed the officials to ensure the biometric attendance system in the constituent colleges of the university.

Ojha said,“I use biometric attendance so I understand there should not be anyone having reservation in this regard."

Many student organisations have also been giving the NPU tough time by putting forward their obstinate demands like sacking of contractual workers who were brought on to the job of the university in the past and these student leaders find their service as foul and from back door.
