The 2016 recruitment policy of Raghubar Das Government, which the present Government recently withdrew, once again rocked the Assembly for the second consecutive day with BJP legislators raising the issue.
As the question hour started BJP legislators demanded work adjournment on the issue, which the speaker, Rabindra Nath Mahato rejected. The BJP legislators, holding placards entered the well of the House shouting slogans against the Government.
The BJP legislators claimed that the present Government is confused as it moves a step forward but at the same time takes another step backward.
The BJP MLAs claimed that there is no clarity in government’s decisions. Due to its confusing steps the government gets entangled in its own trap. The BJP MLAs claimed that since the formation of the State of Jharkhand, there has been a demand that the jobs of class III and IV should be given to Jharkhandis only, but there was no effort in this direction. As the BJP MLAs’ protest intensified the Speaker adjourned the House till 12 noon.
Post adjournment when the House resumed, the BJP legislators tried to raise Hazaribagh Kerosene explosion and alleged sexual exploitation of a tribal girl in Kanke area of State Capital. Raising the sexual exploitation of tribal girl issue, Khunti MLA Neelkanth Singh Munda said, “The present Government claims to be well wisher of tribal, but in a shocking incident in State Capital at Kanke a tribal girl was sexually exploited by a youth. When the girl reached Gonda police station which is stone throw distance from Chief Minister’s official residence, the police refused to lodge the complaint of the girl exerting pressure on her for religious conversion.”
He said, “It is a very shocking incident as the incident has occurred at State Capital which is nearby to the Chief Minister’s residence.” State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam replying to Munda’s demand said, “The matter raised by the MLA is a serious issue. The Government has taken cognizance over the issue and will carry out a probe in this connection.” On the intervention of the Speaker, the BJP legislators were pacified.
However, post lunch when the House resumed the BJP members once again raised the issue. BJP legislator from Bhawanathpur Bhanu Pratap Shahi once again raised the issue. BJP legislator from Ranchi and former minister CP Singh raising the senate membership issue at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, said, “The Government is confused. Recently he was appointed senate member of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, but a day later the notification was cancelled.” Singh, stating that he never requested for becoming senate member, tore the paper in front of the Speaker.
Congress legislator from Poreyahat, Pradeep Yadav making strong observations on Singh’s behavior demanded action against senior legislators. Yadav demanded censure motion and expulsion of CP Singh from the budget session. Senior BJP MLA and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi outside the House said that some ruling party legislators have developed a habit of demoralising Opposition party legislators.
Meanwhile, the State Government has made all preparation for Budget, which will be tabled in the House on Wednesday. On Tuesday evening the JMM legislature party meet was held at JMM MLA Nalin Soren’s residence. The meeting was attended by JMM MLAs including Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
