The spread of coronavirus continues to decline in the city. The recovery rate has also seen a jump, rising to 93.39 per cent. According to information provided by the health department, a fortnight ago this figure was around 78 per cent. It has improved to 93 per cent and above.

In the last 24 hours the number of new cases reported in the city dropped below 300, as 258 people tested positive – this despite 5,890 people being tested. The number of recoveries on the day, meanwhile, outnumbered the number of new cases, with 385 people recovering from the infection.

It appears to be early signs that the more dangerous Covid wave is receding from the city. The Steel City’s case positivity rate has also dropped to 5.53 percent. The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur is around 5.53 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 5,500 tests in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate has climbed to 93.39% while the active cases have come down to 2,500 a total of 385 positive people recovered of the virus pushing the recovery mark to 45,732.

District civil surgeon AK Lal noted that despite there being a sign of decline in the Covid cases, the department is taking extra care. He went on to add that the administration has decided to test everyone in the district to prevent community spread of the disease. More tests would only help the administration to prevent further spread of the disease.

“The positivity rate has also slowed down. People were motivated to undergo tests so that the spread can be controlled. During the test drive, we have seen that people are scared to undergo tests. They need to understand that the more we conduct tests, the fear of spread will get normal,” said another health official.

With focus on tracing and testing, the number of corona positive cases has slowed down. On an average only 250 positive cases are being reported. According to information, ever since the first positive case was reported everyday  on an average 100 cases have been reported. With the beginning of the New Year 1000 cases were being reported. Cases witnessed a steep rise during March and April. However, the intensity of the virus has reduced with 250 positive cases being reported every day.

“The cases have reduced ever since the East Singhbhum administration stepped up its efforts for early detection of the virus and launched aggressive mass testing in market places and housing societies. The focus is on Trace, Track and Treat. This has helped to curb the cases,” said a health official.
