'Rebels' enter ex-Minister residence, abduct guard

A group of suspected armed CPI-Maoist rebels allegedly stormed the former minister and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) leader Dulal Bhuiyan's house at Bhuiyandih under Sitaramdera police station on wee hours of Sunday and abducted a private security guard with an intention to allegedly hatch the assassination plan of the leader.

The rebels who had come on two bikes and a car had allegedly taken away Bhuiyan's guard along forcibly and left him after four hours having gathered information about the JVM leader's  activities. The former minister who has been stripped off most of his body-guards claimed that the incident took place after he received a threat call given by the rebels over his cell-phone at Patamda a week ago.

Confirming the incident former land Revenue Minister Bhuiyan, a member of Madhu Koda Cabinet, told mediapersons that a mobile squad of the Maosits consisting of nine members entered his residence at around 2:30am and abducted private guard Bijen Paswan. They took him to a place in Dalma forests, around 25 kms from here, and interrogated him about the daily routine of the former minister.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Bhuiyan claimed that he had received threat from the rebels at Patamda a week ago, and one of his partymen had also received a call from the rebels who wanted to know details about his movement. Bhuiyan, while speaking about the threat, quoted the rebels as saying that he would be killed the same way JMM MP, Sunil Mahto was shot dead at Baguria and Dumka SP, Baliyar was killed.

The senior SP of East Singhbhum, Richard lakra whom Bhuiyan had informed about the matter directed City SP, Kartik S for conducting a probe. Meanwhile, Karthik S said that the matter was under investigation and a formal statement would be made by the SSP later. The guard was also being interrogated." It is too early to comment. I am questioning Bhuiyan's watchman Bijen Paswan whom the rebels had allegedly abducted from his (Bhuiyan's) house at  around 2.35 am today.  After probing into other angles, I will submit the report to the senior SP in the evening," said Kartik.

Another police officer suspected that Bhuiyan wanted to get back six additional body-guards that had been stripped off recently and allegation of rebels' attack at his house was just a concocted story cropped up by the former minister. Bhuiyan, however, said that he was going to lodge an FIR with the Sitaramdera police station against the unidentified rebels who had barged his house.
