‘Raquibul a Hindu, follows Islam, did formal Nikah with Tara'
National shooter Tara Shahdeo’s husband Ranjeet Singh Kohli alias Raquibul Hassan along with his mother Kaushalya Rani was sent in judicial custody for 14 days in connection with the case of deceit, exploitation, religious conversion and torture after the Ranchi police produced the duo before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Neeraj Kumar Srivastav.
Ranjeet enjoying several high profile connections and his mother have been booked under Sections 498A (subjecting a woman to cruelty), 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc), 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention)of IPC.
Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar, talking to media persons on Thursday said that the police will try to seek remand of the duo for maximum period of time in order to reach to the bottom of the case. Kumar also revealed that Ranjeet despite being a Hindu followed Islam and also solemnized nikah with his wife Tara Shahdeo.
