Ranchiites gear up for Indo-Pak clash

The game that always ‘brings the two nations at still’ has come again when title-holder India will face Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final at london's Oval ground on Sunday. June 18 is also internationally celebrated as ‘Father’s Day’ and the popular Indian saying ‘Baap Baap hota hai’ (A Father is always a father) has been doing rounds on social media.

As India meets Pakistan on Sunday people in the Capital City have already planned their whole day around the much awaited match which will begin at 15:00 IST. “I will be watching the final with my friends. We are planning to place a big screen at Morabadi and we will be enjoying the match together. We will finish all our chores till 3 in afternoon as nobody will be getting up from in front of the TV once the match starts,” said Yuvraj Kumar who has represented Jharkhand in U-16 and is currently a part of U-19 district Cricket team from Ranchi.

Even though it is just a match, Cricket being the most loved sport of Ranchi, people tend to get overly emotional and taking jibes at opponents isn’t something new when an India-Pakistan tie is on the cards.

“like on previous occasions when India clashed with Pakistan this time too we will be putting up some 4-5 extra security guards at the main points around the city where there are possible chances of conflicts arising. Areas around Doranda, Morabadi ground, Daily market and Jora talab will be under security to avoid any disturbances after or during the match. We are also monitoring the social media to keep an eye on any provocative comment or post that might target any specific religion regarding the match,” said Aman Kumar, City SP.
