Increasing scorching heat has become a matter of concern for the Ranchities. People are waiting for rainfall in the city though in some areas a slight drizzling was experienced on Monday but it does not bring any noticeable relief for the city people. Growing heat has shuffled the life of city people adversely.
On Monday temperature of the city was recorded maximum 40 degree Celsius and minimum 39 degree Celsius.
According to G. Mohanti, Director and scientist of Meteorological department Ranchi, “May is considered as the hottest month among all months so we experience maximum heat in this month there will be slight change in the climatic condition as slight drizzling can be experienced in Ranchi and in some parts of Jharkhand but city people have to wait for a good rainfall.”
Nitish Priyadarshi, an environmentalist said, “Earlier also mounting heat has been experienced by residence of Ranchi but when the temperature crossed 40 degree Celsius we used to receive a good rainfall but now that there is shortage of rainfall even if the temperature rises upto 42 degree Celsius we struggle to find rain and the reason behind this is global warming and if the situation stays so then in the coming future the scenario will be worst.” Arising heat is also leading to many common diseases like heat stroke, food poisoning, diarrhoea and sun burn which are alarming in the city in present days.
Dr A. Khaitan, General physician said, “During summers I attend maximum patients suffering from heat stroke the warm winds blowing in the afternoon and lack of consumption of proper level of drinking water are its main causes until date total 56 cases of sun stroke has come up to me and diseases like food poisoning and diarrhoea is also coming”.
