Ranchi women protest against Asaram Bapu

Women of Ranchi took to the streets to protest against Asaram Bapu for alleged molestation of a minor girl and demanded justice for the victim. Members of All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) expressed their rage against the self-style Godman Asaram Bapu through silent demonstration.

Chairperson of AIPWA Sarojni Bisht said, “It is really a shameful act and we want justice for the minor girl. The law must take stern action against such people so that no religious figure like him can ever dare to committee such crime.”

The protestors with placards on their hand and mouth covered with black piece of cloth carried the demonstration depicting the act to be awful in their eyes. A protestor Neelima Devi said, “Our covered face relates to the sin done by a guru (mentor) considered person. Instead of buying time he should summon in front of police and present his statement.”

“We Indian are soft-hearted and start treating preachers as God. This incident is a lesson for all Indians.” Crime against women has increased recently as media presents. “Every day we discover news on crime against women which needs to be curbed. Women need protection and the administration must ensure it,” added Sarojni.
