Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC)’s plan to collect garbages from door-to-door through a responsible agency is pending over a month which has resulted into heaps of wastes gathered in most of the colonies. This has anguished the residents as the rotting waste is creating to an unhealthy environment.
“The waste collector comes on alternate days and sometimes is not visible for weeks. My daughter had filed a written complain to RMC’s office at Doranda but no action was taken. They always assure to forward the letter to their senior authorities,” said an aged woman of Hinoo’s Kilburn Colony.
Sonali Chatterjee, a young lady of Kadru said, “Waste Collectors arenever visible in our area. We have located a four acres land for throwing the garbages. RMC employees never take the pain to collect the wastes.”
“The big dustbin of RMC is far away from our residential place. Throwing daily wastes by crossing the road to reach this dustbin is troublesome,” said Ranchi University’s staff Dinesh staying in Harmu Road’s Shivganj colony.
Similar to Dinesh, Ravinder Kaur living in Kokar shared the woes of throwing waste in nearby areas. She said, “Even in this old age, I have to find areas to deposit the garbages. RMC should take immediate steps to clean our city.”
Shubhodeep, a class sixth student of Jawahar Vidya Mandir said that he and his school mates find it difficult to get into their bus in the morning because the bus stand is covered by garbages.
However, RMC’s Public Relations Officer Naresh Kumar said that the civic body will begin the door-to-door waste collection facility by the end of this week. “The allegations on us are unjustified. For past one month we were trying to manage the cleanliness by A2Z or local NGOs. But, have failed to implement the plan. Within two or three days we will re-start our job of door-to-door waste collection,” Kumar said.
