Ranchi to get control room to address water woes soon

Published on:

Moving a step further towards regular water supply to the State capital, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) will soon set up a control room. It will have officials of Public Health and Education Department (PHED), who will  take up the calls related to the water supply. The direction was given by Urban Development Minister CP Singh during a coordination meeting with different departments at his Project Building office in Ranchi on Wednesday.

Taking a serious note over the complaints, he received from the people regarding irregular water supply in the State capital, Singh had called a coordination meeting with the officials of RMC, PHED and Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam limited to chalk out a solution in this regard.

“Officials of both RMC and PHED will sit in the control room taking on the questions asked by the people regarding their problems related to water supply. It will, however, be maintained by Urban Development Department,” said Singh during the meeting.

Concerned with the poor water supply in the State capital, Singh assured that he will make all his efforts to provide regular water supply to the people of Ranchi.

“I want to be available round the clock for my people. I never miss a call on phone irrespective of the person who is calling me,” said Singh.

“Though the situation in the State could not be improved in the last fifteen years, it is high time that we should make efforts to make the things better, Singh added.

According to Singh, people in this State have to face day-to-day problems related to power and water supply.

Hence, the meeting of the concerned departments was called to establish coordination among them so that they may not be able to fix responsibilities on each other.

“Such complaints of irregular water supply in several parts of the State capital is a cause of concern for us given the fact that the centre is committed towards providing water supply to each of the households in the country,” said Singh. An arrangement needs to be done so that there does not remain any shortage of water in cities, added Singh.

Agreeing to the concern raised by the Minister related to lack of coordination among different departments, officials during the meeting assured Singh that they will find out a solution for the problem so that interrupted water supply could be made available for the people in cities.

Meanwhile, JUVNl MD Rahul Purwar also informed the ministers that laying of underground cable in the cities will be started from November. “Initially, it will be laid on the main roads and then gradually it will be extended to the by-lanes and colonies,” said Purwar.

The meeting was attended by departments’ heads of PHED, Urban Development Department, MD of JUVNl, Town Commissioner, Engineer in Chief of Drinking Water Department along with the Drinking Water Minister Chandra Prakash Chaudhary.
