If you are interested in saving rhinos around the globe, you can simply contact Ranchi Rhino franchisee as they are promoting some of their merchandise for ‘Save the Rhino International’, a worldwide known charitable organisation.
The home team of Jharkhand cum winner of first Hockey India league (HIl) in 2013 had signed a partnership with ‘Save the Rhino International’ before the beginning of Hockey India league 2014 on January 26 last.Co-owners of the franchisee team asserted that the corporate partnership has proved to be a better way of gaining global publicity.
Speaking about the details, team co-owner Diya Chauhan on Thursday said, “We are selling buddy buttons in yellow-green and red-green colour combinations with slogans written on saving the rhinos. Silicon wrist bands are also being sold through our website and social media pages like Facebook and Twitter. It is all because our name is associated with rhinos. Our main purpose is to create awareness for this particular animal. We look forward in sustaining this collaboration.”“Since the league is over, we are concentrating to attract customers in Kolkata and Ranchi.”
Meanwhile, in an email reply to The Pioneer, Save the Rhino International’s Corporate Relations Manager Josephine Gibson from london said that in January the charitable organisation and hockey franchisee developed a partnership to raise fund for rhino conservation.“Ranchi Rhinos have chosen to support Save the Rhino by donating the profits from selected merchandise they sell,” the Rhino International official said.
Also, Gibson pointed out, “Save the Rhino International is a UK registered charity and we work to protect all five rhino species in Africa and Asia as well as support the communities that share their habitat. By funding anti-poaching and monitoring patrols, environmental education, community conservation and demand reduction activities, Save the Rhino International’s goal is to deliver long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos, ecosystems and local communities.”
Asked on where exactly the team people are benefitting more, another team co-owner Saurav Dugar said, “We are gaining more benefit from the urban segments by selling our merchandise products. The response is overwhelming.”However, Dugar pointed out that presently they are not keen to highlight the matter in the society on their part.
“As of now, whatever profit we are earning is because of our name included on Save the Rhino’s website,” the co-owner added. On January 26, Ranchi Rhinos had organised a carnival prior to the HIl-2 inaugural ceremony from Birsa Munda Football stadium to Astroturf stadium. Renowned Jharkhand soccer players Sylvanus Dung Dung and Manohar Topno were honoured here in a chariot.
The organisers of Ranchi Rhinos had then contributed the entire fund generation of this carnival to Save the Rhino International.
