Ranchi Rhinos captain Moritz Fuerste will be missing from the first two matches of second edition of Hockey India league (HIl) at Ranchi’s Astroturf Stadium on January 26 and 27. Sources confirmed the information on Friday and said that the name of officiating captain has not been decided yet.
On the other hand, the organizers of the opening ceremony of this league scheduled on Sunday announced that German-Indian Bollywood actress Evelyn Sharma, who featured in ‘Sunny Sunny’ in the recently released flick Yaariyan will present a mesmerizing performance. “The opening ceremony will basically be a carnival. There will be presentations with fire. Also we are trying to bring the players in horses and elephants from the Birsa Munda Football stadium to Astroturf stadium,” said an official source.
The first match will witness UP Wizards playing against Ranchi Rhinos. On Friday, the UP Wizards practiced under the supervision of renowned Hockey player Dhanraj Pillai while the practice session of Ranchi Rhinos was held in the evening. Delhi Wave Riders and Ranchi Rhinos will be playing the second match here on Monday. HIl-2 formally begins at Mohali on Saturday.
