The increasing presence of women in drug peddling has left Ranchi police worried as in the past few months a number of them have been arrested. The drug syndicates are now trapping youths with the help of women to sell narcotics substances. For the last few months, Ranchi police have been running a special drive against suppliers and peddlers of narcotics while keeping a tab on the drug corridor connecting Ranchi Jamshedpur and Kolkata. A few months back Ranchi Police arrested two women drug peddlers.

A woman Rizwana Khatoon from Palamu was arrested as one of the kingpins of the drug cartel. Police got the details of Rizwana Khatoon after they arrested Anand Munda, Vikas Singh, and Amit Kumar Singh from Kali Mandir locality under the Sukhdeo Nagar Police station area.

They confessed to having purchased 45 grams of brown sugar from her after paying Rs 80000. Her husband Tinku Kuraishi has been in jail since 2017 in a drug case.

Earlier, Ranchi police arrested a 20 years old model Jyoti of Vidyanagar under the Sukhdeo Nagar police station area. Police recovered 28.26-gram of brown sugar from her possession. Police also recovered a weighing machine and silver foils from her residence. Investigation revealed that she was supplying drugs to students at educational institutions. She had carried a huge consignment of drugs from Delhi which she was selling along with her boyfriend Shailesh Kumar alias Gandhi who was arrested later on.

Police came to know about the model when it arrested a youth Harsh who was one of her contacts. He said they tap students staying in hostels and lodges besides they also supply drugs to other students. He said that they supplied drugs to only trusted persons and the order and delivery were done in a very secret manner.

When arrested she denied her involvement. She claimed that Gandhi had given his bag to her and she had no idea of any drug kept in the bag. But later on, she accepted her involvement. She has disclosed about many persons to whom she supplied drugs.
