As a bus from Simdega district reached the Khadgada bus stand in the State capital at around 12:30 pm on Thursday, shrieks of a woman enduring labour pain were heard. The ToP In- charge ASI Bheem Singh present at the bus stand immediately rushed the woman to Sadar Hospital with the help of a medical team.

Jyto Dungdung (20) who arrived at the bus stand in Ranchi broke down from acute labour pain as she disembarked from the bus.

“I was at the corona testing camp when I got information about the pregnant woman suffering from labour pain. Spreading a blanket on the ground, we initially helped the lady to lie down as she was unable to sit while the ambulance was on its way,” said Singh.

The labour room is located on the first floor of Sadar Hospital. A team of nurses was waiting for the ambulance and the lady delivered the baby on the ground floor itself.

Dungdung delivered a baby girl and was extremely thankful to the Ranchi Police for its prompt service. The lady also expressed immense gratitude for ToP In- charge Bheem Singh for showing that humanity is alive in today’s world.

“It is a matter of great pride for us to serve the people and we shall continue to do our best under any circumstances,” added Singh who later visited the hospital to ensure that everything was carried out smoothly.
