love for sports has made Indian Team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s (Mahi) fan Rohan Deo Pathak, a 23-year-old singer of the State capital to compose songs on sports which are ‘not so popular’.
Apart from highlighting cricket, his album would focus on hockey, women’s football, power lifting and weight lifting. Probably, the album is scheduled to be launched by December 31.
Sharing the idea of identifying this ‘Sports’ column for singing Rohan said, “I know many sportspersons besides cricket who do not get the fame they deserve to have.
Every sport has a player like ‘Mahi’. Since, music is one of the best way to aware cum reach out a wide audience, I thought of singing for this cause. Also, I am trying to find out few more sports which are popular abroad but lack attention in our country.” Rohan is trying to invite Dhoni for this album song. As of now, the album is done with five songs beginning with a song on cricket. “I am searching for more sport forms included in the Olympics which are devoid of attention in our nation,” Rohan added.
After Jharkhand’s fortune of becoming an international spot by organising the One Day International match at Jharkhand State Cricket Association on January 19, Rohan uploaded his singing voice devoted to Youth Icon Dhoni on February 12 and then uploaded his song on ‘Team India’.
Noticing this mesmerizing audio-visual song, Mahi invited Rohan to his residence on Tuesday. “It was a surprise. “The ‘down to earth’ cricketer made every effort to feel me comfortable. Infact, I was astonished to meet such a gentle celebrity known player. He seemed happier with my song on ‘Team India’ reflecting Indian Cricket’s team’s win in the Champion’s Trophy,” said Rohan.
Adding more, he said, “If Mahi has praised my efforts it means my voice has a standard to please other players as well.”
Rohan presented Dhoni a CD (compact disc) consisting of these two songs and a song of this upcoming Sufi album ‘Tere liye’ (For you). He belongs to the family of renowned musicians. Starting from his grandfather late Shiv Dahin Pathak, then father Raj Kumar Pathak, Uncle Amar Nath Pathak and elder brother all are noted musicians for instruments like flute, guitar and table. Rohan is the only vocal artist in this music family.
The young boy since the age of 14 has been professionally doing stage shows across the nation. Today, he presents atleast five shows in a month. Moreover, he owes degree in Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Prabhakar from Chandigarh University and Allahabad University.
He said, “While doing graduation in English from St Xavier’s College, I decided to have academic degrees in singing also because it is important to have an equivalent qualification in the profession you are in.” For now, Pathak wishes to present a song during the India-Australia cricket match scheduled at Ranchi in October 23. “I love cricket and Dhoni is my idol. It would be a dream come true if I get the chance of singing at this international platform,” Rohan quoted.
