A number of polling stations under Ranchi parliamentary constituency have shown a huge turnout of voters between 85 to 95 per cent in the polling for 16 lok Sabha Election held on April 17. Officials of the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office said this rise a “positive feedback” from the Ranchi voters for the first time ever.

Khijri’s polling centre number 46 at Primary School Halbadi has shown the highest turnout of voters with 94.68 per cent among the five assembly constituencies of Ranchi including Ranchi city, Kanke, Khijri, Silli and Hatia. The least voters turnout was in booth number 240 at Ranchi’s Rajkiya Urdu Prathmik Vidyalaya with 26.26 per cent.Maximum voter’s strength was recorded at a number of booths in Ranchi, Silli, Hatia and Kanke.

Ranchi’s booth number 192 at Rajkiya Urdu Middle School, Hindpiri and Silli’s booth number 157 at Upgraded Middle School, Dhatkijara has witnessed this large voter’s presence. On the other side, Booth number 5 at Rajkiya Prathmik Vidyalaya, Murchu and booth number 237 at Rajkiya Middle School, lalganj under Hatia and Kanke assembly constituencies have recorded this majority voter’s presence.

“We are grateful to SVEEP for conducting awareness programmes in all the areas of this state. It is definitely due to this reason that large numbers of voter’s were aware on their voting rights and casted their votes,” CEO PK Jajoria said on Saturday.

Stating the cause of low voters at Ranchi’s Rajkiya Urdu Prathmik Vidyalaya, a staff of election commission at Deputy Commissioner’s office informed that there was a “lathicharge” on voters this day to manage the crowd. “The lathicharge probably is the low voter’s turnout reason at state capital itself,” he said.

Meanwhile, voters at Silli’s booth number 223 in a Primary School and at Khijri’s booth number 52 in an Upgraded Middle School had boycotted from voting resulting zero voters here. “There was a boycott. Else, the booths were not supposed to receive such a poor approach,” a staff deployed for election commission affairs at the collectorate said.

Notably, Hatia has shown the second least voters presence by its booth number 312 at Rajkiya Model Middle School, BMP, Doranda. Jajoria on this issue said, “The least and maximum voters within Ranchi constituency are comparatively better as per our previous arecords.” Ranchi has significantly recorded 63. 74 poll percent according to revised data released by CEO Jajoria on Friday.
