Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh sounded worried about the factionalism prevailing in the State Congress. On his one-day visit in State to mark the welcoming of new PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat he sternly warned the party workers against any individualism and opportunism.
Ramesh said that it had been unfortunate that the State had never given opportunity to the Congress party to run the Government.
“Among the three States that were formed together in 2000 including Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand; Jharkhand is the least developed State. This can be attributed to political instability that had prevailed in State. The State citizens are tired of this instability. They are ready to vote for us now we have to get ready to collect their votes,” he said.
Ramesh said that the political parties in State were like mud and the Congress party had to show different character if it wanted the people to vote for it. Ramesh said that nobody knew what was going to pan out in political spectrum of State in coming two or three months so the party should be ready to confront all the situations.
He also asked the new PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat to prepare a roadmap for the roadmap for next three months. “I am ready to visit all 81 constituencies in the State by road in coming three months. Prepare a roadmap for this. I will devote two days a week to Jharkhand. Until now I concentrated on Jharkhand for development of State now I will focus on reaping the political benefit for all the goods that we have done and the central government has been doing,” he said to the PCC Chief, Sukhdeo Bhagat.
