Keeping into consideration the pool of vehicles coming from all over the State along with thousands of people coming on Sunday to attend BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, organisers are thinking to land Modi at the rally ground by a chopper. Earlier, Modi was to enter the venue from back side of the stage, taking the longer route through Jagannathpur temple, after he arrives at Birsa Munda Airport.
"We are trying to arrange a chopper to land Modi ji at the ground directly from the Birsa Munda Airport as parking for over 15,000 vehicles coming from all over the State will be a big problem. If he comes to the venue by road, security wise also it will not be easy for the administration to sanitise the route taken by him," Traffic SP Rajiv Ranjan said.
According to sources, police taking the charge of the venue will be briefed by the top police officials on the ground. They will be told about the routes and do's and don'ts during the rally. They will also be given instructions on how to deal with the crowd in different situations. "A mock drill will take place on December 28 at the ground, the day it will be handed over to the security forces," said Ranchi SSP Bheem Sen Tuti. Police officials from Gujarat Police have also started coming to Ranchi who will also be there in the security of Modi along with Jharkhand Police and NSG commandos.
Jharkhand Police taking no chances after the serial bomb blast during Modi's rally in Patna on October 27, will depute 20 companies of police force comprising over 2000 personnel at the venue to avert any untoward situation. Currently, more than 100 security forces are guarding the venue keeping a close vigil to those whoever is coming that side. The police will formally take charge for the venue on Saturday following which it will be sanitised for the public making it accessible only to the organising committee.
