Calling Maoists as anti-development who lost their track, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday wished that Jharkhand becomes the first State to be free of extremism among the other Naxal-affected States. Singh was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly built Jharkhand Jaguar Headquarters at Tendergram in Ranchi on Monday.
“They say that they are working on an ideology… What ideologyIJ” he questioned, adding, “If the Government wants to do something for the poor, you create hurdles before it. I believe that if there is really any enemy of the poor it these people who are promoting extremism and Maoism in the area. Still they say that they are the well-wishers of the poor.”
The Union Home Minister said that solution to the Maoist problem in Jharkhand will be found soon as he was convinced of the capability of Jharkhand Jaguar — the elite Special Task Force of the State — to root out Naxals from the State.
The Union Minister said that Maoists are anti-development and anti-Democracy who does not want to do anything for the poor. “While the Government is providing free gas connection to the poor, these people are playing with the their sentiments in these areas,” he said.
Singh also stressed on taking some pro-active steps towards perception management of the poor by the State Government through community radio or some other steps which could be taken to reach out to them. He also said that a sense of patriotism must be there in every security personnel as it is said to be the best among all religious fervours.
He said that the martyrs not only shed blood for Jharkhand but also for the country. He said that even a single incident of killing in the hands of extremists pains him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well.
Emphasising that infrastructure should be adequate so that the forces would not face difficulties; Singh regretted that the special infrastructure scheme (SIS) had been stopped two years ago. He, however, added that he had spoken to the PM and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in this regard and noted that “they assured him of its revival”.
lauding the works done by Jharkhand Government, Singh said that CM Raghubar Das has the zeal to work for the poor and the Government is ready to work in every filed. In order to protect this State from the problem of environment, Raghubar Government has started plantation drive across the State which is really commendable. “Jharkhand will also be counted among the developed States in the coming days,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that his Government was committed towards rooting out Naxalim from the state where Jharkhand Jaguar has to play a key role. “Jharkhand Jaguar has played an important role in rooting out Naxalims from the State and giving momentum to the development of the State as well. It is the works done by Jharkhand Jaguar that Maoists could be dragged out from Saranda, Parasnath, Jhumra and other places,” said the CM.
Maoists have only one objective of creating hurdles before developmental projects but this Government was committed towards bringing peace among the people along with development, the CM said.
