Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday applauded the State Government for bringing a significant change in the orientation of the State’s development and said that the work of CM Raghubar Das and his team was “miraculous” in 1,000 days.

Addressing a huge gathering at the airport ground in Dumka during the closing ceremony of State Government’s 1,000 days’ programme, Singh said that Jharkhand will attain double digit growth rate by 2019 if the pace of development remains the same.

“I have visited Dumka on several occasions. But, today I must tell you that the change I am witnessing is historic. You must greet your CM and the PM for such a wonderful work. The thought with which former CM Atal Bihari Vajpayee made this State is being fulfilled now. There was no dearth of resources in Jharkhand the only thing needed was proper orientation towards development, which is happening now,” said the Home Minister.

Citing some benchmarks of development in recent days, Singh said that Jharkhand ranks second in big developing states in the country after Gujarat. “The GSDP growth rate of the State is 8.6 per cent and time is not far when it will cross double digit mark. The State is becoming a favourite destination for foreign investment. It is on the seventh place among all the states in ‘Ease of doing business’....there are several such indicators that put Jharkhand on the top slabs of development index,” Singh added.

The Home Minister, on the occasion, also lauded the State and the Centre for corruption free governance. “There is no taint of corruption on the CM and the PM during the present regime and that is a big achievement for all of us. India is doing wonders and is getting global recognition today. The world is looking upto us,” he said.

Singh stressed on agricultural development for overall development of the State. “Many schemes have been launched and within five years we aim to double the income of the farmers by involving youths into agriculture.

We have to develop agriculture as an industry,” said the Home Minister.

He, on the occasion, also appealed to Maoists to provide pens to the tribal kids of the land than arms. “The base of naxalism is diminishing in the State and eventually it will be rooted out. You do not provide arms to yours kids but teach them then why do you give arms in the hands of poor tribal kids. I appeal once again to surrender and assure that the State government will consider the best possible rehabilitation,” said Singh.

Earlier, CM Raghubar Das thanked the people of the State for partnering in the development of the State and making it a success. “I feel contended today to serve the people of Jharkhand for 1000 days. We have been organising Garib Kalyan Mela recently aiming to remove middlemen, who have been looting the poor people of the State. Now, there will be no middlemen between people and the Government,” he said.

Das said that assets over Rs 800 crore had been distributed among 1.5 lakh people of the State between September 11 – 22 through Garib Kalyan Mela. “The Government wants everyone to live a dignified life with all basic amenities and we are trying our best to fulfill this vision of the Prime Minister by implementing several development schemes,” said the CM, giving details of welfare schemes being run in the State.

The Home Minister and the CM, on the occasion laid foundation and unveiled development schemes worth Rs 3184.66 crore covering six districts of Santhal Pargana and Giridih. They also handed over loans, soil health cards, land rights papers under FRA, house ownership documents under PMAY, e-POS machines to SHGs and inaugurated Mayurakshi Silk Gram during the programme.

State Cabinet Ministers CP Singh, louis Marandi, Neera Yadav, Amar Kumar Bauri, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Raj Paliwar, Chandraparkash Chaudhary, MPs, MlAs, Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, DGP DK Pandey alongwith other eminent persons were present on the occasion.
