After low rainfall witnessed across the State in June, the Met department experts feels that Jharkhand may get ample amount of rainfall due to the present situation of low pressure at Bay of Bengal. In the month of June 120.9 mm rainfall was recorded in the state, which is 39 per cent less than the normal rainfall.

“Due the low pressure at Bay of Bengal which is touching Jharkhand presently, chances are high that in July ample amount of rainfall is expected in all districts of the state. For the next three to four days heavy rainfall is expected in Jharkhand,” said, Forecast officer of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi observatory, Upendra Srivastava.

On Monday city denizens witnessed heavy rainfall due to the further advancement of the southwest monsoon. “The southwest monsoon has further advanced and condition is favourable. Heavy rainfall at isolated places and light rainfall to moderate rainfall at several places occurred over the state,” added Srivastava.

“The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends upto mid troposphere levels. The system is likely to become well marked low pressure area during next 48 hours. The trough at mean sea level is diverted. Bokaro recorded highest maximum temperature and Ranchi lowest minimum temperature. As the situation is favorable, moderate to heavy rainfall can be expected in Jharkhand for another three to four days,” Srivastava pointed out.The State Capital on Monday registered maximum 27.4 degree Celsius and minimum 22.9 degree Celsius whereas 1.4 mm rainfall was recorded till 5:30 PM.
