The Textile Expo, organized at Morhabadi ground wore a deserted look on Tuesday, the second day of its inauguration as people were unable to step out of their houses due to heavy rains in the State Capital.
Ankit Kumar, a local retail shop owner, who was planning to visit the expo said, “I was all set to go there but the sudden showers made me drop the plan. I might visit on Wednesday if the weather is clear.”
The expo is a specialised textile and fashion exhibition being organised by Jharkhand Bulk Clothing Vendor Association for the second time in the State. The three day fair would conclude on Wednesday and witnesses vendors from across the country
Secretary of the association, Vikram Khetavat said that a number of vendors from Jharkhand have also been given stalls at the premises including textile industrialists from Ramgarh, Hazaribag, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Palamu, Jamshedpur and other districts.
Our aim is to provide a place where textile industrialists and buyers from across the country can get together under one roof and do business," said Chairperson of the association, Anil Jalan.
Ghanshyam Jalan, a cloth manufacturer from Mumbai who has put up his stall at the expo said, “The preparation done by the organisers is satisfactory but the manufacturers and sellers are worried because of the continuous showers. Only few retailers made it to the exhibition on Tuesday and as few as 25 people visited our booth while several others had no visitors at all.” Jalan is hoping for the sales on the last day of the exhibitions.
The exhibition has a total 150 stalls with more than 90 branded companies displaying an array of products inclusive of sarees, dress materials, hand looms, readymade garments, and household items such as blankets, curtains, pillow covers, doormats, fabrics for upholstery among other products.
“On the very first day of the textile display 950 retailers along with the public visited the stalls,” said an official of expo.
Ranjit Vala from MG Son’s Ltd, an Ahmadabad based textile manufacturing company said, “We have a wide range of daily wear kurtis priced at less than Rs 1,000. Around 50 retailers and common public visited our stall today.”
A food court has also been set up at the expo premises where visitors can enjoy a wide range of delicacies.
