Several districts of the State, including capital Ranchi, coal city Dhanbad and Lohardaga, witnessed moderate rainfall on Sunday causing a sudden shift in the weather, officials from the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi said.
Ranchi was covered in dense fog in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The visibility was down to 20 meters on highways in the night, sources said. The haze also resulted in a slight fall in the mercury level in Ranchi and Kanke.
According to the Meteorological Department, the change in weather is due to western disturbance. Prediction by the MET department says that the weather is likely to remain the same for the next 48 hours. Ranchi will remain overcast on Monday, with no signs of sunshine throughout the day, sources said.
On Sunday, the highest rainfall was recorded in Daltonganj at 10.2 mm. Jamshedpur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 13.2 degrees while the maximum temperature of the city was 29.6 degrees Celsius.
