Rain lashed most parts of Bokaro district on Friday giving respite from intense heat. The rain brought smiles on the face of farmers. The heat had thrown life out of gear across the district. The maximum temperature hit about 44 degrees Celsius around noon which in combination with high humidity during the past days, made the days miserable not only for the human beings but for the animals too.
The rain led to the drop in temperature by at least eight notches in compression to past days. Rains lashed most parts of the city at around 5.30 pm and continued for over one-and-a-half hours, leading to traffic jams at busy roads in the city. People going back home from office on two-wheelers were left stranded under the trees to protect themselves from rain. Dr R Singh said, “Get wet in rain, but take precautions. A dip in temperature gives great relief, but increases humidity. After the rain, heat and humidity rise, taking a toll on health.”
