The western disturbance has brought back the vagaries of weather in Jharkhand as rain and sub-ten chill situations have returned once.
Ranchi and other parts of Jharkhand witnessed rain on Thursday night and IMD's Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of the heavy rain along with the lighting in the districts of SanthalPargana. Besides, it also predicted the fall in temperature by three degrees Celsius.
IMD said that high moisture feeding from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea along with cyclonic pressure is causing this condition.
In the last 24 hours, Sahebganj district of SanthalPargana recorded 80 mm of rain while Koderma recorded a minimum of 13.6 mm of rain. Other places of SanthalPargana like Borio (64 mm) and Dumka (63.2 mm) witnessed heavy rain.
The sky remained cloudy throughout the day, dropping temperature. However, there was no fog. This condition is likely to continue till the next few days. There is a likelihood of rain on Friday across Jharkhand. On Saturday, there will be fog with a cloudy sky.
There is the possibility of an improvement in weather conditions after Saturday but morning fog will continue till February 8.
The cold wave has once again hit Jharkhand as most of the part of the state facing the sub-ten chill situation. The sub-ten chill situation will continue till February 6 after which there will be a gradual improvement in the condition. In districts like Hazaribagh, Ramgarh and Ranchi the minimum temperature is likely to be 7 degrees Celsius. Mccluskieganj of Ranchi even witnessed snowfall.
Notably, since December last year, the weather in Jharkhand remained quite unpredictable due to western disturbance passing through Pakistan extending between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level. The western disturbance had caused rain and a sub-ten chill situation. Only a week back weather became clear and people got relief from the cold wave when the weather condition turned bad.
