Railway property, mostly wire cables and electrical items were gutted in fire that broke out in the godown located next to the Dhanbad railway station.
The actual loss of railway property is yet under assessment by departmental authorities.
Reports suggest that fire broke out around noon and was first spotted by DSP railway government police Sajid Khan who has his official residence next to the store.
He called the fire fighters but by the time they reached the spot the fire aggravated. Keeping in view the rising fire the police and GRP asked families residing next to the godown to vacate the house including that of the Rail SP and DSP.
Some railway employees were seen removing cables to other locations amidst fire. Five fire renders worked for over three hours to control the fire.
