Rai urges CM to stop illegal mining in Jharkhand

Published on:

BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Saryu Rai has written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and requested him to stop illegal mining of iron ore, carried out in Saranda and other adjoining areas despite a Supreme Court order dated May 16.

The Apex court in its order has also directed the State Government to complete the process of renewal of mining leases within a period of six months. Rai in his letter has also alleged that the officials of the State Government are working in the influence of a strong lobby.

Rai further stated in his letter that it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister to check the irregularity done in

the State.

According to Rai, out of 42 lease holders in the State, validity of 39 leases have already been expired while the mining is being done by them. It proves that the the illegal mining is rampant in the State.
