Rahul to blow Cong’s poll bugle in State

After nearly finalising seat sharing arrangement with allies of the grand alliance the upbeat Congress is all set to hit the gong in a grand way. None other than the party’s national president Rahul Gandhi would be addressing a public meeting on March 3 in Ranchi.

As per the plan approved by the party at the national level the Gandhi scion would attend the rally probably at Morhabadi ground along with sitting separately with party workers and leaders ahead of the back to back polls coming first in the form of Lok Sabha in May and of the Assembly later this year.

“We have got confirmation about Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s trip to the State. He is scheduled to visit on March 2 and would address a grand public meeting in Ranchi. Party’s Jharkhand in-charge RPN Singh and Pradesh Congress President Ajoy Kumar had requested him to come to Jharkhand. Party workers are pleased that he has accepted the request,” said PCC spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey on Thursday.

Noteworthy is here to mention that after assuming charge as the chief of the grand old party it will the first visit of Rahul Gandhi to the State. Also the party would be taking a lead over rival BJP by attending a public meeting as far as general elections are concerned. “Large number of party workers and common people of the State would be attending the rally. It is certainly going to boost our moral and settle the alliance also,” said Dubey. It is also learnt that Rahul would be sharing the dais with leaders from alliance partners representing the JMM, the JVM and the Left parties besides leaders of the Congress.

Moreover seat sharing formula announced by the coalition partners is yet to be settled finally. Congress Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari who has been pressing for Godda parliamentary seat has approached the party central leaderships in Delhi on Thursday.

“I am here to apprise the party leadership that Godda has been traditional seat of the Congress and it should have come to our way. Due to vested interest it seems the seat is going to JVM’s way. It is not going to help the party’s cause,” said Ansari from Delhi.

As per the tentative seat sharing arrangements, Congress would be running away with lion’s share with seven seats leaving four to JMM and remaining three to be shared by the JVM and the RJD. JVM is pitching hard for Godda seat and inputs coming in suggest that the Congress leadership has yielded to the demand.
