The MLAs and office-bearers of the Jharkhand Congress are likely to meet Rahul Gandhi in the next couple of days in Delhi where he will take feedback about the affairs of the party and the government in Jharkhand.

This is perhaps the first such occasion after the assembly election of Jharkhand where Gandhi is collectively meeting a large number of leaders.

“This was a long pending demand of MLAs and leaders as they wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi. They wanted to raise their concerns and suggestions to the central leadership on various issues. But RPN Singh never allowed anybody to meet Rahul Gandhi. He made Rahul Gandhi inaccessible for all. Now he has joined the BJP after damaging the party in Jharkhand. As Avinash Pandy has taken the change of the state in-charge of the party all leaders and MLAs said that they wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi,” said a senior leader of the party.

The leader said that the meeting is scheduled for February 8.  Other than MLAs, all four ministers and members of the newly formed Co-ordination committee will meet Rahul Gandhi.

Notably, on Thursday Congress president Sonia Gandhi approved the formation of the Co-ordination Committee of Jharkhand Congress. Pandey was appointed as chairperson of the committee. The 17 men committee includes state president Rajesh Thakur, ministers namely Alamgir Alam, Rameshwar Oraon, Banna Gupta and Badal Patralekh besides former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, former state presidents Dr. Ajoy Kumar, Pradeep Balmuchu and Sukhdeo Bhagat, MPs Dhiraj Prasad Sahu and Geeta Koda, MLAs Pradeep Yadav and Bandhu Tirkey. Jaleshwar Mahato and Shahzada Anwar too are members of the committee.

Rahul Gandhi will also individually meet ministers and take their feedback on the performance of their department and the government.

“We have been given to understand that the central leadership has planned some organizational programmes namely outreach and others for which a discussion will take place,” said a senior leader.

Notably, the central leadership of the Congress was forced to give a priority listening to Jharkhand after RPN Singh who was close to Rahul Gandhi quit the Congress and joined the BJP.
