The elected members of Hazaribagh district board will take oath on January 19 and then will choose the chairman and vice chairman.
There are 32 elected members for Hazaribagh district board and this time the post of chairman is reserved for OBC woman. There are three serious contenders for the post of chairman of Hazaribagh district board. Political activities are on full swing. In between these activities some members are also trying their best to grab the post of vice chairman, thus making the entire scenario more interesting.
In this race the first secret but open step was taken by MlA Janki Yadav whose wife Chandan Devi has retained her seat from Barkattha block. MlA Yadav camped at Hazaribagh for two consecutive days last week spending most of the time in meeting with the newly elected members and to get their support.
On the last day of 2015, Priyanka, a newly elected member from Katkamdag block surprised everyone with a gathering of seventeen members at Rajrappa. Minister Chandra Prakash Chaudhary was with her at Rajrappa with local AJSU leader Pradeep Prasad and Ex-MlA of Barkathha Amit Kumar. There they claimed that more than 20 members are supporting Priyanka for the post of chairman of Hazaribagh district board. Priyanka was a mukhiya last time and this time she had fought the election for district board membership saying vote for me to make me district board chairman.
Yesterday MlA Hazaribagh sadar Manish Jaiswal and his father ex-chairman of Hazaribagh district board Brajkishor Jaiswal came openly in favor of Sushila Devi, elected from Barkagaon. A good number of newly elected members were also present with them. The Jaiswal duo claimed that 22 members are with them and they will vote for Sushila Devi. It is in talks that Sushila Devi is the wife of lakhan Sao who is accountant of Sushil Srivastava gang.
Now three faces are open in the race for district board chairman's chair. Though these faces are of women but behind them there are faces of political heavyweights of the district. Support of 17 members will be enough to get the chair and everyone is claiming the support of 20+ members.
It will be interesting to see who gets the magic figure of 17 because some faces are common in all three groups and it is supposed that among them some are serious contenders for the post of vice chairman who can shift to any camp at last time to protect their interest.
