Raahgiri day which kicked off in April is successfully inculcating healthy lifestyle among those who regularly participate in the programme. Sunday mornings in the State capital is fiesta of health and delight as denizens actively participate in the programmes and other physical tasks.
Nevertheless, the organisers too have planned to expand the event in future to add more fun and folic in the programme with innovative themes. The ‘Raahgiri’ Day witnesses ample crowd on the busiest streets of the State
capital and is being conducted successfully from 6 am to 10 am where people indulge themselves in different physical activities and other creative activities.
“This is the most constructive step taken by the authorities. All necessary gym equipments are available here. Beside, that free movement in the busiest street is very refreshing. As cycling is considered best exercise, the concept is fast catching the attention of people as one get ample space to ride bicycle here,” informed, Poonam Virmani, a local resident.
The much appreciated ‘Raahgiri’ Day is the joint endeavor of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Ranchi Traffic Police including few other private partners. With innovative themes in kitty, organizers are successful in luring the leisure buffs in different ways.
“The RMC has put up one suggestion board at Albert Ekka Chowk, so that more innovative ideas come up and programme can be improvised. To make the concept unique, we are adding new themes on each ‘Raahgiri’ Day. So far, only on two Sundays footfall was less due to various circumstances,” informed, Deputy Mayor, Sanjeev Vijaywargia.
Mayor, Asha lakra had mentioned earlier about the expansion of the event to other areas and streets. The plan is limited to Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Main Road) and if all goes well, concerned authorities will expand it to other major arteries of the city. Based on the feedback from the denizens of the city through the ward councillors, other venues will be selected for ‘Raahgiri’ Day after six months.
To make the event a success in the days to come, authorities are on toe to add more fervour to the entire affair in more planned way to attract and involve more people in this ambitious project. Facilities of E-rickshaw services to guide and assist people to different gaming zones, addition of 20 bicycles and other aesthetic events have already broaden the concept.
