Ratnesh Kumar, an accountant in the Public Works Department's building construction posted in Jamshedpur division, was on Sunday sent to Seraikela Divisional Jail after production before a judicialmagistrate.

Kumar, who is a resident of Rishi Apartment at Bhatia Bustee in Adityapur, was sent to jail for stabbing a 27-year-old youth, Rakesh Kumar at his residential flat around midninght on Friday after he hadfound Rakesh trying to molest his wife in the house.

Rakesh was driver of Kumar's father-in-law Ved Prakash Rai, a retired under-secretary in Bihar and had brought the family from Vaishali district for attending a function at his (Kumar's) house in Adityapur. OC, Vijay Kumar Singh of Adityapur thana said that they arrested Kumar for killing Rakesh.

"As per our investigation, Rakesh was attacked by Kumar with a kitchen knife as the former had tried to outrage the modesty of his wife in a room on the third floor of the Rishi  Apartment.  After stabbing the driver, Kumar had rushed him to Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bistupur, where he had claimed that the youth had sustained injury accidentally.  But when the victim died on Saturday morning, the hospital authority informed the Adityapur police," said the officer-in-charge.

Kumar's wife Munni had gone to her parents' house along with her two children and parents the same day. The OC, when queried, said that they are not ruling out a possibility of an affair between the wife of Kumar with that of the driver who was killed.

"We are gathering more inputs. But as the woman has already left Adityapur and Kumar is not speaking anything about the matter, we will have to wait for the return of the woman so that we can progress in our probe," said Singh.
