The year 2014 is going to be beneficial for State Capital commuters, as the authorities are all set to revive the city’s rickety transport system into a secure one. For this a series of new buses and autos will ply on the city roads by next year.

The plans such as introduction of low floor buses and pink autos which have travelled midway will reach to the final shore in the coming months. Moreover, the number of city buses will also be increased from 70 to 100 and the pilot project women special buses number will also exceed its number.

Deputy CEO of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) Shailendra lal said, “Majority of the population is dependent on city’s public transport system and there are numerous examples in front of us regarding the woes of passengers with regard to the public transport system. Our effort is a small contribution in this direction.”

According to lal road expansion, bus stand set-up will be completed by the end of this financial year.

“I am confident that we will be able to accomplish our plan within the stipulated time,” added lal.

Seeing the plans city’s fairer sex feels that in the coming year travelling in public transport system will prove safer and comfortable for them.

Resident of Harmu Road Anita Desia said, “Travelling in pink autos and ladies special buses will save us from unsavory activities of male commuters. I have avail the services of ladies special bus and found that it is a safest means of communication. If pink autos also hit the roads then women can safely commute to their destiny.”

According to Sabita, another local commuter, the Ranchi public transport system has always been in a mess but if we turn the pages back we can find that in the past few years administration has taken efforts in strengthening the system.
