PTR tracker sights wild dog

Tiger reserve officials are elated. One of the trackers has sighted a wild dog at Peedi in Garu east range.

Ranger Rajinder Shukla told The Pioneer, “Eye sighting wild dog is too rare. I have been here over the last 7 years. I am told of the eye sighting of wild dog only twice. And this two sighting of wild dog has taken place just this year only. The first one was sighted at Rud some six months back.” There is no record of any camera trapping of any wild dog in these 7 years.

Shukla clarified that this wild dog was alone. It was not in pack. Wild dogs like wolves remain in pack.

Ranger further said a pack of wild dogs is more deadly than a lone tiger as the whole pack attacks and mauls together. Ranger further said wild dogs snatch bodies from the shamshan ghats if the relatives are not around.

Even burning bodies are snatched as the entire pack of wild dogs which can be of any number like 6 or 8 start pissing together and then retrieve the bodies for their feast.  Villagers loath wild dogs most than any other wild life.
