A semi-adult black spotted eagle was rescued in Daltonganj by the staff of core area of the Tiger Reserve Palamu. The eagle which is an endangered species was found hanging in deep distress from a tree near Government bus depot.
Its one wing was hurt and their was clotted blod on it, which forced the bird to perch perilously on a tree. It is feared that the bird could have been stoned by someone.
DFO Core Anil Kumar Mishra who had photographs of this injured eagle said on Sunday, “On the fourth day we were told of this eagle perching perilously from a tree near the Government bus stand where I sent in my staff who with great care and effort rescued the bird and brought it down to my official residence where eagle is being treated medically and with some chicken bones and water which have revived the spirit of the bird to some extent.”
Mishra said had there been a day’s delay more the crow could have further harmed this injured bird as crow has the habit of beaking any helpless bird.
Mishra was uncertain if this eagle would take to its wings as he said once it musters courage to fly only then one can vouch for its survival.
