PTR officials cross fingers over wounded python's fate

Tiger reserve officials here are cross fingered over the fate of a wounded 8-feet long python. The reptile was rescued from Basarya village under Chainpur police station four days ago and had a spear inflicted wound.

DFO Core PTR Anil Kumar Mishra said the reptile is in a cage here in Daltonganj where under the advice of the vet doctor antibiotic injection is given along with anti-septic spray on its wound. The PTR official said it cannot be released in nature as then ants swarm the wounds of the reptiles and hastens the death. Vet Doctor Mishra seemed to be uncertain of its recovery but assured that he will try his level best. The python was unweighed since there was no machine to weigh any rescued wild life including the reptile. “This wounded reptile is living on its earlier intake of food.” DFO Core said reptiles can live without food even for a month.  There are 25 personnel under training in catching snakes taught by a Hazaribag based celebrated wild life lover Satya Prakash.

The wild life protection act 1974 forbids any extraction of poison of snakes and hence the training given to 25 is restricted only to catching device of the snake and also to make people aware of saving themselves from the bites of snakes.
