Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister, Mithilesh Thakur, on Wednesday, said that it is the priority of the State Government to provide pure water from tap in every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission and to achieve this goal, one has to work with determination. He said that the officers of the department, field engineers and workers should work to achieve this goal with determination and try to remove the problems and obstacles coming in this direction.

He was speaking at a State-level workshop organized on Wednesday to make available "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal" under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that organizing such a workshop will help us a lot in this direction and we sincerely hope that we will be able to achieve this goal.

Thakur said, “We have achieved the 21 per cent target of the scheme so far. But, we have achieved this goal in a very short time and in extreme circumstances, because all the work was disrupted and development work came to a halt during the COVID-19 transition. Nevertheless, we asked our officers to complete all the preparations and as soon as the infection of COVID-19 subsided, start taking this plan to the ground. Initiate the tender process expeditiously and complete the projects. It is because of this that we have achieved this goal so far, otherwise we would have been behind even this.”

The Minister said to the contractors that whatever work is allotted to them, they should be completed on time and if they do quality work before time, then they will also be encouraged by the department and they will also be given priority in the allocation of work. He stressed the direction of providing drinking water from tap in the rural areas and said that with the cooperation of the villagers, they should work towards providing pure water. Organize Village Water Sanitation Workshop in the village through UNICEF.

Secretary of the department, Prashant Kumar said that Jal Jeevan Mission is very big and it has to be completed on time. For this we all have to work in a phased manner. To accomplish the goal, the officers of the department, the regional engineer and the sensor should establish a dialogue among them and try to remove the problems and obstacles in the area. He said that Jharkhand is the first state where 60,000 solar water based schemes have been made. He said that work would also be taken from third party inspectors to speed up the works. He said that a problem resolution cell has been formed by the department, where problems are being resolved.

The Engineer-in-Chief, Raghunandan Prasad said that such a workshop is being organized for the first time. He highlighted through a presentation the targets achieved so far of the ongoing schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Along with this, the solutions and methods were told about the ways to achieve the goal of water from the tap.
