Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced on Saturday that the recruitment process for 17,000 vacant posts in Jharkhand Police will begin from next month. “Police department is doing its best to maintain law and order in the state but there is an undersupply of manpower. To address this dearth of personnel, advertisements for recruitment for 17,000 vacant posts will be put up in newspapers during the month of August. Two battalions comprising primitive tribes will also be formed out of these recruitments,” Das said, while speaking to pressmen during his ‘janta darbar’ on Saturday,
A sum of approximately Rs 20 crore will be spent to expand the gamut of PCR patrol vehicles across the state, with highway patrol set up every twenty kilometers on all roadways, Das added.
He said that the scarce manpower in state’s law and order forces and administration has hampered their smooth functioning and it will take time to bring them back on track.
Responding to concerns expressed by public representatives over Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba’s instruction decreeing strict action against those interfering with government work, Das said, “Chief Secretary has not issued any instruction that threatens the status of public representatives.”

“But no one has the right to disrespect government officials either. Administrative officials of the state are here to work, not to get insulted.”
He further stated, “Our officials have made good on the promise of providing electricity round the clock in Santhal subdivision. From July 23, we will be providing electricity 24x7 in this region.”
listening to the grievances from across the state, Das instructed these complaints to be dealt with at local level itself so that people don’t have to come all the way to the Chief Minister in Ranchi to get their problems solved.
The CM encouraged the people of Jharkhand to take up a more active role in the working of the state government. He said, “Voters should not neglect the proceedings of the state government and administration after they have cast their votes. Satta par janta ka dabav bana rahe to mantri aur santri jage rahenge. (If the people continuously scrutinise those in power, ministers and administrators will be on their toes regarding their duties.)”
“Jharkhand Government is dedicated to realise its promises of bringing development and good governance to the state. like building a house, even this will take some time,” Das said.
