On Monday morning when the villagers of Dandai Khurd village of Sadar block saw a dead body in a well, they informed Muffasil PS. In the presence of police team the dead body was fished out and everyone immediately identified it as the body of a 15-16 year old girl who was missing since last January 28.
The body was brought to Sadar Hospital, Hazaribagh, for post-mortem where a team of four doctors including a lady doctor was constituted and they collectively finished the process of postmortem. The body was then handed over to her relatives for last rituals. Till that time the police were taking it as a suicide case though the father of that girl had given an application to the Muffasil PS on January 29 accusing four youths for abducting his daughter.
The Muffasil police who were taking the case casually suddenly got stunned when the initial postmortem report came. As per initial report the girl was raped before death. As per report she had died at least five days ago which means on January 29 or 30. The assumption of police has thus failed and now the police have started investigating whether it is a case of rape and murder or rape and suicide. In the complaint given by victim’s father, four youths namely Manoj Kumar Kushwaha, Chandan Kumar Mehta, Shamim and Gautam Kumar, all residents of Meru village of Sadar block, have been made suspected accused and now police are in search of them. DSP R Thakur said that very soon they will nab the accused and then everything will become clear.
Meanwhile, the Muffasil police team visited the village and made a thorough inquiry of the room of that girl and in the outskirts of the village especially near the well. As per sources, police have seized found the mobile of that girl which will certainly give some important clues to the police. On the other hand the relatives have accused the police for reacting late. The father said that if the police would have acted immediately perhaps his daughter would have been alive.
