In a major development in the ‘Priti fake murder’ case, an FIR was finally lodged on Sunday at Chutia Police Station on the directions of DIG South Chhotanagpur Range Praveen Singh. Officer in Charge of Chutia Police Station received the complaint at Jagannathpur Police Station following the instructions given by the DIG after the family members of Ajit and Amarjeet refused to visit Chutiya PS.
“Chutia OC was called at the Jagannathpur police station and he received the complaint and also gave us a receiving copy of it,” said Dheerendra Kumar, brother of Amarjeet. Earlier, Dhurwa Police had denied to loge the FIR on Sunday calling it a case of Chutia Police Station.
The FIR has been lodged by the victims – Ajit and Amarjeet against the then OC of Chutia Police Station Krishan Murari, Priti’s Father Surendra Singh, her mother as well as twelve others who identified the unknown dead body to be of Priti. The then City DSP of Ranchi as well as Bundu DSP have also been named in the FIR.
In a report submitted by the CID on October 11, it was found that the allegations made by family members of the victims of the case are true which asked them to lodge an FIR against those responsible for keeping the three innocent youths in jail for over four months, including the then OC of Chutia Police Station Krishan Murari. The then City DSP of Ranchi and Bundu DSP have also been held responsible for the incident.
Family members of the victims -- Ajit and Amarjeet were kept waiting for hours at the Dhurwa Police Station on Sunday who had gone there to lodge their complaint.
A criminal writ petition seeking compensation for Ajit Kumar has already been filed in the Jharkhand High Court on September 16 along with a demand to file an FIR against those who were responsible for keeping the petitioner for over four months in jail for the crime which actually did not take place. SSP, DSP, IO along with Priti’s parents, who identified the body of an unknown as his daughter, have been made party in the case.
On February 19, a police investigation indicated that Priti was gang-raped and set ablaze apparently to hide the evidences. The trio’s ordeal started when a girl’s partially burnt body was recovered about 40 km from Ranchi on February 15 at an isolated place.
