Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadar) Vikash Chandra Srivastava asked officials of various Police Stations to improve rate of detection of cases registered in their respective police stations.
“For every police station, culprit detection should be achieved in at least one to two cases of heinous crimes registered there. lower rates of detection in petty crimes like snatching and burglary also needs to be improved,” directed Sadar DSP during the monthly crime review meeting on Sunday.
He further added, “The OCs were asked to readily dispose of cases registered in their police stations. The number of cases disposed should be higher than the cases registered.”
The concept of community policing is to be taken up a notch in January, by directly involving police stations in the initiative. In the meeting, Sadar DSP asked OCs to hold regular meetings with bankers, businessmen and other sections of the society in order to understand their issues for effective solutions.
“A public grievance box is also to be installed at all five police stations within the next 15 days. Any problems coming to a police station can be put in the box. Keys to them will be with me and I will check the complaints once in a week,” said Srivastava.
Assessing the crime rates for the month of December, an increase was seen in the number of cases registered. “The increase was seen in almost all five police stations – Bariatu, Sadar, Gonda, Hotwar and BIT Mesra outpost. The rate of disposal of these cases has also been found to be satisfactory,” stated Srivastava.
The OCs were also asked to expedite verification process for passport, character certificates, attachments and such. They were also asked to provide any information requested through Right to Information as soon as possible.
