Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare K Vidyasagar reached Daltonganj on Monday amidst State-wide bandh called by Opposition parties over the land Acquisition Bill and inspected the Government Sadar Hospital to find that ready to use lift is a non-starter in this hospital. Sources said Vidyasagar took note of it and wanted that the lift installed in the hospital must be operational. He felt sorry for severely sick patients and elderly visitors going upstairs for treatment. On an average 800 to 900 visit OPDs each day said sources.
DC Palamu K Srinivasan told The Pioneer that power position has held up the service of the lift. Srinivasan said he would soon be holding meeting in this regard to find out ways for the operation of the lift. The Palamu civil surgeon Vijay Kumar Singh said as the hospital has no huge back up generator to keep the lift in operation during the time power goes off, the service of the lift is put on holds.
The principal secretary was too displeased to see the upkeep of the sadar hospital as cleanliness was giving a miss. DC Palamu said Vidyasagar braving intense heat reached primary health centre in Chainpur too. At Pokhraha Khurd Vidyasagar inspected the site of 12.5 acres of land ear marked for the medical college here said the DC.
