The prime accused in connection of raping and impregnating a minor school girl of a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalay in Garhwa, surrendered before the local court on Saturday and the judge sent him to 14-days judicial custody. The accused Chandan Mehta and four others have been booked for raping and impregnating a 14 years old girl student.
Earlier on Friday the Women’s Police Station, Garhwa registered a case against five accused including a doctor and hostel warden of the school.
The Class 8 student of KGBV had delivered a baby boy on June 26 this year at primary health centre, Manjhiaon. In this regard the victim has submitted a written complaint to the police, where she stated that she had love affair with a 21 year old neighbour Chandan Mehta. She always used to meet him at Mehta’s agriculture farm.
She further stated in her complaint that during the Dusshera festival accused had allegedly raped her on the pretext of marriage. She came to school two-three days after the incident. She became pregnant but she was not aware of the fact. When there was a pain in her stomach, she used to go to the hospital with other girl students and take medicines. She also did not give information to her mother of the incident.
According to the statement of the victim on June 26, 2019, when she had immense stomach ache, she went to the government hospital with other girls of the school. After a while, she gave birth to a baby boy, who was healthy. Hostel warden Snehlata Singh, ANM Nirmala Kumari Dr. Govind Seth School management committee president Lal Bahadur said that she was a minor and forbade her tell anyone that she delivered a child in the hospital. When she slept, Nirmala took the child and said she would keep the baby.
